RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design, analysis and experimentation of different multiple access methods and multiplexing schemes for wireless satellite communication links,

- Design, analysis, and performance evaluation of L2/L3 layers in satellite networks, which includes development for medium access control, radio resource management, routing algorithms, flow and congestion control, reliable communication techniques, etc.,

- Researching and performing systems engineering in satellite networks, including applicable engineering specifications, standards, recommended guidelines and resource requirements for both hardware and software,

- Making recommendations for satellite network optimization, additions, and upgrades to enhance network capacity and performance,

- Being responsible for evaluating satellite network performance and capacity to ensure that business requirements are met,

- Documenting network infrastructure, protocol stack, algorithms and overall design.

 

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s degree from one of Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or equivalent,

- At least 5 years of professional or academic experience in relevant areas,

- Extensive knowledge of OSI model and layered communication architectures,

- Solid knowledge in common techniques for multiple access and MAC layer algorithms, coordinated and random-access protocols,

- Solid understanding of digital communication techniques, satellite transmission, link budget analysis, basic RF and antenna principles,

- Knowledge in routing algorithms, intra-AS, inter-AS routing solutions,

- Demonstrated work and/or research in wireless communication networks, including 4G/5G cellular systems, IEEE 802.11 WLAN standards, LP-WAN solutions, Wireless Sensor Networks, Ad-Hoc Communications, etc.,

- Demonstrated work and/or research in satellite communication networks is a plus,

- Strong mathematical background and analytical modeling skills,

- Strong knowledge of MATLAB, experience with Simulink is a plus,

- Knowledge of at least one scripting/programming language is a plus, i.e., Python, C/C++,

- Knowledge of at least one network simulator software is a plus, i.e., NS3, Opnet, Omnet++,

- Love to research and read about relevant topics.
